FREEMAKE - You Tube Downloader and Video Converter

1) Download the "Freemake Video Converter" from http://www.freemake.com.

Steps 2 and 3 refer to a few questions you will be asked during the FreeMake install.

2) During the install try not to install the "Amazon Toolbar" unless you really need it.

3) During install don't install the "Tune Up Utilities" software ( untick the " I accept the terms of the TuneUp Utilities 2013" and click "Next".)

-------------------------------

4) Once you have installed the FreeMake software, open "YouTube" in a web browser and find the video you want to download.

5) Watch the You Tube video from start to finish to check the content.

6) Once you are happy with the video, highlight the URL (web address) with your mouse, right click and select "Copy". See screen shot above.

--------------------

7) Open "Freemake Video Converter"

8) Click "Paste URL".

9) Follow steps 1, 2 and 3 in the screen shot above.

10) After selecting your video file format i.e. WMV, a pop up box will appear as shown in the screen shot below.

11) Here is a key for the labels shown in the screen shot above:

A - Select the Video screen size ( I usually leave this setting alone).

B - Take note of where the file is to be saved or change the location of the saved file. ( default is "My Videos")

C - Finally click CONVERT.

12) The file will take a while to convert depending on the file size of the video.

13) Copy the finished video file you have just created onto a memory stick.

Ninite - a free software installer website

A great website I found in a magazine.  Choose your software and then leave it to the website to do the rest.  I am yet to test it but I like the concept.

http://ninite.com/

Ninite installs software fast with default settings and
says "no" to browser toolbars and other junk.

Ninite checks your PC's language and 64-bit support
to install the latest, best version of each program.

Ninite runs on Windows XP/Vista/7 and works in the
background unattended and 100% hands-free.

All Ninite does is automatically download and install
the apps you select. Not even Ninite is installed.

Microsoft Image Resizer

A useful download to help reduce the size of Photographs.  When you right click on a JPG or a group of images, there is an option to "Resize Images".  You get a choice of Mobile Device, Small, Medium and Large.  This tool is ideal if you have to upload images to blogs or websites or even just reduce disk space on your computer.
I find this tool invaluable when printing lots of images using the Photo Printing Wizard in XP.

Vista or Windows 7 equivalent, I haven't fully tested the Vista version.
